ExeKiller Description
ExeKiller is an action adventure game set in a cyberpunk-postapocalyptic universe. The game was developed by the independent Krakow-based Paradark Studio team and is its debut project.
Plot
ExeKiller takes us on a journey to an alternative version of 1998. Twenty years earlier, a global cataclysm known as the Great Fire Disaster led to the near-total destruction of the earth's surface, mass extinctions and the collapse of governments. Those who managed to survive (only a third of humanity is mentioned) live under the control of corporations. The game's protagonist is one of the titular ExeKillers - bounty hunters who collect biochips called S.O.U.L. from their targets, gathering information about the hosts and allowing them to be controlled. How the protagonist's adventure will go depends on the decisions we make.
Mechanics
In ExeKiller we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The game features an open world, which includes desert wastelands, picturesque yet gloomy and dangerous canyons, abandoned highways and various human settlements. Both a full day/night cycle and dynamic weather have been implemented in the game; violent, radioactive solar storms are at the forefront of the weather phenomena we encounter during our expeditions.
We travel across the vast map on foot or behind the wheel of a futuristic car. Missions pushing forward the plot are the driving force of the game. While completing them, we often have to make choices which influence the attitude of neutral characters towards the protagonist, and also influence the further course of the story.
As it is typical for the games, where the main character is a bounty hunter, fighting with enemies plays an important role. Taking part in dynamic shootouts, we use a wide range of firearms, gadgets and combat skills. On the other hand, there's nothing to stop you from trying to do things quietly by sneaking behind enemies' backs and eliminating them with a knife.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of ExeKiller looks very good. The overall style reminds of Blade Runner 2049 and the game features an intriguing soundtrack.
