Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare is a hybrid comprising elements of first person shooter and endless runner games. The game is set in the universe known from the iconic horror films from the Evil Dead series, which has already been the source material for several games dedicated to stationary platforms (Evil Dead: Regeneration, Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick and Evil Dead: Hail to the King). The game was developed and published by the British mobile gaming studio Boomdash Digital also known for creating Bubble Raider and Petal Pop Adventure.
Mechanics
Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare combines elements of both shooter and endless runner genres. Players observe the action from the first person perspective, as they run ahead and collect drops of blood appearing on the screen. At the same time, enemies charge at them from different sides - they have to be either eliminated of avoided without stopping. Sometimes players also need to avoid traps such as falling trees or creepers.
Boomdash Digital's combat system is quite demanding because the protagonist is not very durable - the game ends after receiving just a few blows. One exterminates opponents (there are several different types of them) using a rich arsenal of weapons comprising such pieces of gear as a shotgun, revolver, nailgun, and chainsaw. Weapons can also be upgraded as the game progresses, so that their effectiveness increases.
Game modes
In Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare players can enjoy only the single player mode. The production does not have any multiplayer mode, but one can find some limited network functionalities there. For example, one's results are listed on the table, so that players can compare their achievements among themselves. If you have a Facebook account and connect it to the app opponents named after our friends will occasionally appear during the game - beating them will give you additional rewards. Finally, you can also record gameplay videos and share them with your friends.
Technical aspects
Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare features average-quality visuals. Monster and character models are neither too detailed nor diverse. Locations could also look better - some textures are blurred and the colour palette is very monotonous. Nevertheless, the visuals in Boomdash Digital's production reflect quite well the atmosphere of Dead Evil films.
