EverQuest II: Planes of Prophecy is the fourteenth expansion to the 2004 EverQuest II MMORPG. The expansion refers to Planes of Power - a player-favorite add-on to the first EverQuest that appeared on the market in 2002. Daybreak Game Company is responsible for the creation of the game; the team has been consistently developing the game since the closure of Sony Online Entertainment.
Story
Planes of Prophecy takes place on so-called heavenly planes - a place where gods reside and where the fate of people, and even entire worlds, are decided, and reality changes under the influence of the will of powerful individuals. Players' heroes travel through extraordinary land to defeat the sinister Lanys T'Vyl and her Hate Dogmas, which threaten the whole world of Norrath and its pantheon.
Mechanics
The fourteenth expansion to EverQuest II brings with it a number of new mechanics and gameplay improvements. The greatest novelty are the weapons associated with the soul of our character, which develops along with it, gradually growing in strength. Players also have access to a number of new locations (such as Magic Plane, Innovation Plane, Disease Plane) and dungeons (Thunder Bastion, Dead Crypts, Soulseka Ro Tower, Liquid Throne), full of powerful enemies to defeat - both in Solo, Heroic and Raid modes.
Planes of Prophecy allows for further development of characters and acquisition of new skills and equipment - the features new items, such as crossbows, which can be used by all classes. The level cap has been raised to 110, trade and craftsmanship skills to 100 (new blueprints for Tinkering have also been added) and the Ascension level to 15. Also, the mercenaries, whose services we can use, have become more powerful - in their case, the maximum level is now 10, they can also use more items (6 additional slots for equipment have been added).
The dungeon unlocking system has also been rebuilt - now when a single hero unlocks a location, all the characters assigned to that account gain access to it.
Technical aspects
Planes of Power doesn't improve the engine on which EverQuest II is based and doesn't bring any major innovations to the graphical layer of the game.
