Specially developed for the 3DS remake console of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard. This position, representing the popular jRPG genre, originally debuted on Nintendo DS in 2008. The new version of the title has been developed by Atlus, the same company that is responsible for both the original parts of the series and its new versions dedicated to 3DS users.

The action of the game takes place in the fantasy land known from the first part of the world of fantasy. The plot is based on the search for a valuable artifact, called the Grail of the Kings, which is hidden inside a palatinous castle. Legend has it that it can only be accessed through the densely overgrown, multi-level Yggdrasil labyrinth. As a result, Prince Lagaard starts recruiting daredevils who will explore the labyrinth and find their way to the mysterious castle. The player leads the team of adventurers who will be honoured with the honour of completing this mission.

The game is presented in the first-person perspective, and its mechanics represents typical jRPG solutions. We spend most of our time exploring the dark labyrinth, although there were also numerous conversations with the encountered independent characters and demanding duels with monsters. The fight takes place in a turn-based system, although it is designed to force players to make quick decisions. During the game it is possible to buy additional equipment, as well as perform a number of optional quests, which will result in additional experience points. An interactive map, visible on the bottom screen of the console, is an important help in the game. The map is operated by means of a stylus, e.g. the team's march route.

We have five ready-made heroes at our disposal, which is a significant difference from the original version, in which we created the hero from scratch. The manga-style graphic design has been clearly improved and adapted to the capabilities of the 3DS console. In the game there is also full acting dubbing, absent from the original. Among the noteworthy novelties, it is worth quoting also new plot threads and new intros and intermittent scenes. In the course of the fight there was also a possibility of transformation, improving the statistics of a controlled character.
