The second installment of the action roguelike series, containing additional dungeon crawler and twin-stick shooter mechanics. Enter the Gungeon 2 allows us to explore the titular dungeon and eliminate hordes of enemies. The biggest novelty is that this time we play in a 3D environment.
Enter the Gungeon 2 is the second installment of the action game series started in 2016. It borrows elements from dungeon crawlers, roguelikes, and twin-stick shooters. The development of this game was handled by Dodge Roll studio. They are also the creators behind the original and its spin-off released in 2019, titled Exit the Gungeon.
Gameplay
In terms of mechanics, Enter the Gungeon 2 does not deviate too much from what the first part of the series got us used to. Watching the action in isometric view, we explore the titular dungeon known as Gungeon, and also eliminate the enemies wandering around it, called Gundead. The layout of the dungeon is procedurally generated.
We go against hordes of enemies and powerful bosses. During dynamic battles, we primarily make use of a wide range of firearms. Various items, as well as active and passive skills, are at our disposal. All of this is complemented by useful blessings that affect our combat potential.
Graphics
What most distinguishes Enter the Gungeon 2 from the original is the graphic design. While the first part of the series operated in 2D, the second installment of the cycle offers a fully three-dimensional visual setting. It is maintained in a colorful style that may evoke associations with Disney or Pixar animations.
