Elliot Quest, released on PC, XONE, etc., is an old-school 2D platformer with RPG elements, described as the spiritual successor to the cult Zelda II: The Adventure of Link from 1987. The game was developed by Ansimuz Games.
Plot
In Elliot Quest, we play as Elliot who, after the mysterious disappearance of his wife, falls ill and is plagued by nightmares and loses his life force overnight. The local sage tells our protagonist that he has fallen victim to a rare curse and that an ancient demon, known as Satar, is trying to overtake his body. Elliot's only chance is to find a cure for the curse before it's too late.
Mechanics
As we play, we explore the vast areas of the island of Urele, trying to find an antidote that will help us defeat the demon. Exploration of individual areas of the island is done in a style typical to classic platformers - we collect treasures, solve simple logical puzzles and face various opponents. The game also offers extensive dungeons, a number of hidden places and 16 different bosses to defeat.
Despite its simple retro graphics, Elliot Quest can boast quite extensive mechanics and strong RPG elements. In the course of the game, our hero advances to the next levels of experience, which will make him stronger and more resistant to attacks. We use different types of weapons and spells, and in addition, we have the ability to combine them into various combinations, allowing you to get better results in combat. Depending on our actions, we can see one out of the three available endings.
