Elegy for a Dead World is an original adventure game in which, exploring three unexplored worlds, we write down our observations, creating a unique diary, available to other players. American independent studio Dejobaan Games, known for such productions as AaaaaA! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity or Drunken Robot Pornography. Due to its innovativeness, the title was honoured with a number of industry awards, and the educational value of the game was appreciated in many countries around the world, using it, among others, to learn English and creative writing skills.
A player-controlled character is sent on a mission to explore three distant planets and find the remains of civilizations inhabiting them in the distant past. The game focuses on exploring a number of original lands, filled with mysterious sculptures, buildings and mysterious machinery left by civilizations once living there. But that's not all, because during the journey our protagonist has to write down his observations and observations, thus creating a unique diary, bringing our discoveries closer to the modern world.
During each game we can play a different type of hero, which will be reflected in the way we perceive the world and the style of the story we write. As an archaeologist, for example, we will focus on discovering the traces of old life and the culture it represents. Playing as a thief, the object of our interest will be, in particular, finds that can constitute a real value. Being a bargain, we will focus on paeans and rhythmic couplets, telling about the fate of an extinct civilization.
Individual worlds, and thus the works created in them, were inspired by the works of three leading poets of the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries: John Keats, George Byron and Percy Shelley. In addition to the highly developed narrative layer, Elegy for a Dead World is also distinguished by its attractive graphic style, inspired by the works of the British romantic painter J.M.W. Turner. The reward for our writing efforts is the ability to publish the finished work through the Steam Workshop and subject it to community review.
