Electro Ride

Electro Ride is a racing game in which we race using vehicles, resembling old cars from the Eastern Bloc (Eastern Europe from the time when it was under the influence of the Soviet Union - the action of the game takes place in an alternative reality, in which this alliance never collapsed). The title is characterized by an arcade driving model and original visuals, full of very expressive, neon colors. Independent Polish developer Sylwester Osik is responsible for its development. The publisher is IQ Publishing.

Plot

The Soviet Union has not collapsed; it is developing dynamically instead. A new form of entertainment is emerging in the cities of the Eastern Bloc - nighttime racing on neon streets, organized by the powerful Moscow corporation and broadcast by the biggest TV stations. The participants drive cars that seemingly resemble the relics of socialism - but their hoods hide powerful engines and modern technology.

Mechanics

Electro Ride is a typical racing game. Observing our vehicle from the rear (TPP camera), we race on a track, trying to reach the finish line faster than our rivals, or trying to improve our own record. The driving model used in the game has nothing to do with realism - instead, it requires the player to display skill.

The devs used an interesting mechanics in their title - driving through areas whose color corresponds to the colors of our vehicle (which may change), we get a nitro boost. The correct route selection and handling of the car while driving enables us to achieve much better results.

The results achieved by the players are listed on a special table, thanks to which we can see who did best on a given route.

Game modes

Electro Ride can be played solo or with others. The title offers the possibility to play in the career mode - we start as an amateur, with each race moving closer to the competition with the champion and unlocking new tracks and cars. There is also an option to race in single races - against AI-controlled rivals or a live opponent (locally, on split-screen), using the tracks and vehicles we have unlocked so far.

Technical aspects

Electro Ride features original three-dimensional visuals, which is distinguished by a very vivid, neon palette of colors. The whole thing makes a good impression.

It is also worth noting that the game can be controlled via a keyboard, pad or racing wheel.
