EGZ is a two-dimensional platformer for AND and iOS with quite high difficulty level. A debut work of a French Lonely Woof studio – established and managed by one-man-band Evans Randriamampianin – has been inspired by… mini-golf, which leads it to being an interesting mix of Angry Birds and Super Stickman Golf series.
Plot
Production shows an alternative vision of the beginning of the life on Earth. Following reasoning of Evans Randriamampianin, first living beings – titular Egzs – were born by chance coincidentally from mixing matter and took form of colorful jellies on legs. As it turns out, the reality of their world is very unfriendly for Egzs and it is in players hand to ensure their survival.
Gameplay
EGZ has been developed for AND and iOS system and combines features of platformer and minigolf, presenting players with the task of getting round microorganisms to the end of level. The problem is that their move set is highly limited: Egzs can only jump, bounce and roll, which doesn’t gives much maneuverability. As if it wasn’t enough, our creatures are extremely fragile, so each contact with the surface leads to loss of energy and a fall from greater heights might end tragically. This means we have to carefully plan each move and cross our fingers that Egz will avoid various obstacles and traps.
The game has been developed to require only one finger. This means controls are maximally simplified and comes down to shooting out Egzs in selected direction and certain power (like in Angry Birds).
Game modes
The same mechanic of shooting out Egzs accompanies us throughout all 80 levels of single player campaign. It also appears in three ridiculous minigames that introduce some variety to the main mode of the game.
Technical aspects
Our struggle with EGZ for AND and iOS has been presented in very colorful and nicely animated 2D graphics, which stands out with its tastefully designed visuals effects accompanying Egzs on their dangerous journey through increasingly complicated stages.
