A third-person action adventure game with RPG elements. Echoes of Yi: Samsara was inspired by Chinese folklore and culture. We particpipate in dynamic duels with enemies, forcing us to masterfully block enemy blows, launch counterattacks and try to break the opponent's defense.
Echoes of Yi: Samsara is an action-adventure game with RPG elements, set in a fantasy universe inspired by Chinese folklore. The game was developed by the independent Chinese studio Runmeng.
Gameplay
In Echoes of Yi: Samsara we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
Dynamic duels
The gameplay focuses on duels with opponents, among which all kinds of monsters are the most common. The clashes are dynamic and require a sense of the "rhythm" of the fight. We must not only effectively block enemy blows, but also launch accurate counterattacks. The key to success is also a careful observation of our enemies in search of their gaps in defense.
In addition to the health bar, enemies also have "momentum" indicators. We can fill them by bombarding the target with blows, resulting in the breakdown of their defense. This is when an enemy becomes vulnerable to lethal blows, which allows us to quickly end the confrontation.
Character development
As we progress, we learn new skills related to martial arts and improve those already learned, which over time increases our combat potential.
Story
Echoes of Yi: Samsara focuses on the first students of the Sword Master. We embark on a journey through the spiritual world, trying to prevent a global catastrophe. On the way, we face numerous dangers, and also discover what connects the divine tree Jianmu with the real world.
The game world has been enriched with elements from Chinese folklore and its culture. We can find the ruins of Sanxingdui, Beijing opera, or references to traditional martial arts techniques, such as Tai Chi.
Music
The adventure in Echoes of Yi: Samsara unfolds to the accompaniment of a soundtrack that uses traditional Chinese instruments such as suona, pipa, guzheng, or guqin.
