A comprehensive manager game developed by Sports Interactive. It is a reboot of a series of games released from 2004 to 2007 along the legendary Football Manager series. The new installment is based on the mechanics of the Football Manager, adapted to a completely different sports discipline. In the game the player becomes a manager of a hockey team and his task is to lead the team to local and international victories.
Eastside Hockey Manager is an extensive hockey manager, which was created under the responsibility of the British Sports Interactive studio - the creator of the most popular Championship Manager series developed since 1992 (currently released as Football Manager). The game is a kind of reboot of the cycle, which was originally released in 2004-2007 and was suspended due to its low profitability. The new version of the game has been prepared mainly with electronic distribution in mind.
The gameplay mechanics is based on the solutions known from the Football Manager series, although the whole has been adapted to the realities of another sport, which is ice hockey. In the game we take over the position of a hockey team manager and our task is to lead it to success on the local and international arena. Our most important tasks include determining the team's composition (and its regular strengthening on the transfer market) and tactics for the next games. We can also employ a team of specialists - including a trainer who will do the "black job" for us. - or take care of everything by yourself. Regardless of the choice, the team's actions will be conducted from the bench, observing the course of the matches thanks to a realistic, two-dimensional match engine.
Creators from Sports Interactive studio have traditionally offered a wide range of playable leagues from all over the world. Each of them depicts not only hundreds of original hockey players, but also the entire structure of the tournament and current regulations. There is also an option to lead national teams (seniors and juniors) in the 13 most important tournaments of this sport. Just like the twin Football Manager series, the game is characterized by high realism, which manifests itself, among others, in an extensive system of trade negotiations or detailed statistics and a model of player development.
The whole was enriched with an intuitive interface, with which fans of Sports Interactive managerial games should not have the slightest problem. The authors have also prepared the possibility to import their own database, including e.g. historical teams and line-ups, created for the previous editions of Eastside Hockey Manager.
