East vs. West: A Hearts of Iron Game is a powerful real-time strategy addressing the subject of the Cold War. Both titles are an extension of the style known from the Hearts of Iron series by Paradox Interactive).

The game is set during the Cold War (1946-1991) and recreates the political-military tension that prevailed between the Eastern Bloc and the West. We can take command of virtually any country that existed after the Second World War. Our task is to strengthen the power of a chosen nation and expand its sphere of influence. Achieving this goal requires a strong economy and army, diplomacy and even spies. The game offers a high level of realism, but at the same time it allows you to change the story. The authors prepared an extensive intelligence and political system.

During the game, the player is constantly in danger of a nuclear apocalypse and has to find the right balance between the expansion of his own power and the risk of the outbreak of World War III. If we fail to negotiate peacefully with other countries, it is possible to turn to the UN for help. This does not mean, however, that the game is lacking in armed conflicts. Instead, they are an excellent way to overcome some of the obstacles and ensure access to valuable raw materials. During land clashes, apart from armies, we also use partisan troops. The navy also plays an important role, and the new editor allows for far-reaching modification of ships. The spectre of the upcoming nuclear war also forces participation in the global arms race. This is matched by an extensive and very flexible technological system, in which it is even possible to create one's own space programme.
