Earthworm Jim 2, available on PC and GBA, is a sequel to Earthworm Jim released in 1995. Developers from Shiny Entertainment studio made sure that the continuation contained an even greater portion of absurd humor and surprising gameplay mechanics.

Plot

As in the original, the main character in Earthworm Jim 2 is an earthworm, whose life has changed with the discovery of the cosmic suit. The brave worm once again rescues the princess "What's-Her-Name". Well known enemies, including Psy-Crow, stand in his way. Fortunately, this time, Jim can count on the support of his friend, Snott.

Mechanics

The gameplay is a mix of elements characteristic for different genres. Some levels are classic 2D platformers, where you have to overcome obstacles, avoid traps and annihilate enemies. Others include isometric shooting, a race with obstacles, and even a quiz game with ridiculous questions.

Among the changes introduced in Earthworm Jim 2, we have new types of attacks and the additional weapons. Unlike the first part of the game, the player has to face only two bosses - Pedro Pupa, giant larvae riding on a monocycle, and Flamin' Yawn, a steak with a fiery breath.

Technical aspects

The visuals in Earthworm Jim 2 does not differ significantly from the original. The developers from Shiny Entertainment have once again taken advantage of proven solutions, including 2D cartoon graphics and lots of humorous animations. The soundtrack for the game was composed by Tommy Tallarico.
