Earth Defense Force 5

Earth Defense Force 5 for PS4 is a production that continues the storylines of the previous installments of the series. The Earth is attacked by aliens again. The players, as members of the eponymous Earth Defense Force, have to repel this invasion. The special military unit was formed in order to protect the planet from threats from the space which, as the story told in the series shows, was a successful investment. The title was announced at Tokyo Game Show 2016.

Mechanics

The gameplay of Earth Defense Force 5 doesn’t deviate from the formula to which its predecessors got us used to. Therefore, it is still a dynamic third-person shooter. At the core of the game is elimination of enemies using a varied arsenal. There are machine guns and sniper rifles, laser weapons, explosives, and a rocket launcher at our disposal. Access to a given type of weapon is determined by the character class we’ve selected. These are enriched in terms of specialization, equipment, and other options available on the battlefield. It’s also worth mentioning that military vehicles, including tanks, choppers, and mechs, also take part in combat.
