Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space on PlayStation Vita is the refreshed edition of the second part of the Japanese series of third-person shoot-outs, in which earthly forces confront the invaders from space. Sandlot was originally released on PlayStation 2 in 2005 and is also known as the Global Defence Force (or Chikyu Boeigun 2 in Japan).

The action of the game takes place two years after the events shown in the first part of the cycle. Although the attack of an alien race has been finally halted in it, the cosmic oppressors do not intend to surrender so easily and return to Earth to take over our planet and completely annihilate the human race. The Global Defence Force units, whose task is to crack down on the opponent by means of completely new military technologies, once again enter the action.

Like its predecessor, we are dealing here with a third-person shooter, in which, while exploring vast locations, we face waves of powerful mosses and giant insects belonging to foreign races. In subsequent missions we control an infantry soldier, who has at his disposal more conventional means (rifles, rifles, grenades, rockets) or a modern commandos Pale Wing, equipped with a jet-pack and a whole arsenal of kinetic weapons. In some missions we also have vehicles such as tanks, helicopters and hovercraft. The PlayStation Vita version also includes a third class: Air Raider - not available in previous editions of the game.

Earth Defense Force 2 offers several dozen missions taking place in seven different regions of the world, and most of them are based on the elimination of successive waves of the enemy. A total of about 300 weapons are available to players, although we can only use two weapons at a time. We get more weapons by taking over the containers dropped by the enemy and they go permanently into our character's inventory. In the same way we get armour and first-aid kits, which increase the soldier's endurance or restore weakened forces. Each stage of the game can be played on five different difficulty levels.

In terms of binding Earth Defence Force 2 presents itself much better than its direct predecessor from 2003. In addition, the PlayStation Vita console edition offers a number of improvements, including a new English dubbing and the ability to play online for 4 people.
