A mobile installment in the popular series of action games. The action of the series takes place in Middle Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms Era. The player can select from 48 warriors inspired by historical characters and face hordes of enemies in various battles. Despite the fact that the combat system is purely arcade, the characters have unique weapons and special attacks.
Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed is an action game released on AND and iOS. It is a mobile installment of the popular console franchise. The title uses free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions and it was developed by Nexon.
Plot
The game, like the whole Dynasty Warriors series, was inspired by the classic 14th century novel written by Luo Guanzhong – Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The book tells the story of the Middle Kingdom in years 169-280.
During the game, players can take control of 48 warriors based on historical characters. The plot resolves around the attempts to unify the three kingdoms.
Mechanics
Contrary to the console entries in the series, Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed for AND and iOS uses isometric perspective. However, the gameplay is very similar to the other games in the series. It mostly consists of participating in battles in which the protagonist must get through crowds of enemies by using a purely action-based combat system.
Each character has unique weapons and can use numerous special attacks. At first the player can choose from only a few warriors, others must be unlocked.
The title also has light strategy features like promotion of generals and improving the army, which helps the player in uniting the kingdoms.
Game modes
The developers prepared large variety of game modes. Conquest Mode is a campaign that can be player alone or in cooperation. Skirmish consists of single battles for up to four players. Boss Fight is a modified campaign focused on battles with the bosses. It can be played alone or in cooperation. Raid is a multiplayer mode in which the player must outsmart his opponents and steal valuable items. War Supply is a strategic mode that enables the player to take control of mines and to gather items.
Technical aspects
The game offers attractive three-dimensional graphics. Despite a large number of characters appearing simultaneously on screen, the visuals are of high quality.
