Durango is a prehistoric MMORPG released for iOS and AND. The game was developed thanks to the efforts of What!, a Korean studio, and Nexon, the developers of well-received Counter Strike Nexon: Zombies.
Plot
The action of Durango takes place in a lush world inhabited by both present-day humans, as well as prehistoric beasts, such as dinosaurs or mammoths. The humankind is a minority – a worldwide cataclysm has destroyed our civilizations and deprived us of modern technologies, forcing the survivors to begin their life anew, constantly in danger from the hostile environment and its animal inhabitants.
Mechanics
The action of Durango is seen from an isometric camera, placed high above the characters’ heads. We begin the game by choosing the sex and the hero’s previous occupation, as well as generate his outside looks. During our adventures, we amass experience points that enable us to develop our abilities. The game focuses on survival aspects – we are forced to gather food and water (also through agriculture), search for resources, and construct items and buildings.
Living on your own is incredibly tough – the world is full of numerous player groups that create survival-oriented societies whose duties include big game hunting or defending their colonies from various dangers, including raids undertaken by other player-controlled settlements. The combat system takes place in real time, while its main emphasis is creating clever traps and ambushes.
