A roguelike game with elements of a platformer in which we cross underground tunnels to free a band of trapped citizens. Although Dungreed takes us to a fantasy world, we eliminate countless enemies with classic weapons as well as more sophisticated tools for murder like rifles or lightsabers.

Dungreed is a roguelike game with platformer elements created by Team Horay, an independent studio. The title appeared on the PC platform.

Story

Dungreed takes us on a journey to a fantasy town, under which there are huge dungeons. One day the creatures living there crawled up to the surface, destroyed the settlement and kidnapped its inhabitants. The player takes on the role of a daredevil who decides to descend to the dangerous labyrinth in order to save the abducted populace and raise money to rebuild the city.

Mechanics

In Dungreed, which was released on the PC platform, we observe the action from the side. We travel through procedurally generated underground levels, where we find dungeons, lava tunnels and jungles, among others. As we progress, we gather more and more powerful equipment - this includes melee weapons, as well as lightsabers and sniper rifles. In addition, we improve our hero's statistics and teach him new skills. In turn, the liberated inhabitants of the town will start to rebuild it over time, thanks to which we gain access to shops and schools.

Over the course of the game we face countless adversaries, from ordinary opponents who are easy to defeat, to bosses; apart from that, it is worth remembering that the dungeons are full of traps. This is further complicated by the fact that after dying the hero loses all of the equipment that we have managed to acquire, and is transported back to the surface; fortunately, once learnt, the skills he obtains stay with him permanently.

Technical issues

The two-dimensional graphics of Dungreed are maintained in a pixel-art style from the 16-bit era. The dynamic soundtrack seeks to warm us up to battle.
