Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler! for PC is a humorous adventure game and the first production by Venture Moon. The developing team includes the core members of the team known for A Vampyre Story.

Plot

The eponymous Duke Grabowski is a brutal and uncouth pirate, who served for years under captain Amerigo. After Amerigo's tragic death, Grabowski decides that only he can replace his late mentor. Unfortunately, the other crew members do not share his opinion, saying that strength and hotheadedness is not enough to make one worthy of being a captain. Other necessary characteristics are charm and the ability to win women's hearts. Therefore, Grabowski is put to a special test to determine whether he is truly worthy of becoming a pirate captain. The challenge calls for winning the love of three women. However, it soon becomes apparent that the real women are not what Grabowski expected, basing on the sexist tales of his companions.

Mechanics

Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler! is a traditional point-and-click adventure game. The gameplay consists mostly on exploring locations, gathering items, having conversations and solving puzzles, which often involve appropriate use of found items or completing minigames.

Technical aspects

The quality of Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler! is top-notch. The visuals are a combination of cartoonish 3D characters with detailed, animated backgrounds. The design artist of the game is Bill Tiller, known for designing such classic games as The Dig, Full Throttle or The Curse of Monkey Island.
