Due Process Description
Due Process is a multiplayer-oriented tactical action game developed by Giant Enemy Crab. The game attempts to mix a gameplay style seen in popular tactical action games to an unusual, late 1990s graphical style and environment.
Plot
Due Process for PC is a multiplayer-only game without any single-player functionalities. The game introduces two groups: a group of criminals that have barricaded themselves in a building and a team of anti-terrorists whose job is to assault the structure and take care of the threat, which means eliminating all targets on site.
Mechanics
The structure is randomly generated at the beginning of each match, which makes players unable to abuse the most convenient locations in each area. The match begins with a two-minute preparation period during which players have access to a top-down overview of the area with additional tools to create a simple plan of approach. We are left with a wide range of weaponry and equipment, including flash-bang grenades and ballistic shields.
The action itself is similar to what we could encounter in classic tactical action games, but is characteristic for its ferocity. The players are very vulnerable to enemy fire, and mindless assaults usually end with casualties. In all, the game favors cooperation and team-based combat.
Technical Aspects
Giant Enemy Crab has decided to create a retro-stylized atmosphere inspired by titles seen on 32-bit consoles. The developers cite many PlayStation titles as their inspiration – the world of the game is seen in three dimensions, but the textures and other elements are purposely pixelated. The title is visibly inspired by popular tactical action titles, such as SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle, SWAT 4, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Rouge Spear, or Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield.
