Dudeski, released on AND and iOS, is a 2D endless runner in which we rush down the slope on skis, running away from a huge avalanche. The production was designed by Static Oceans Corporation, co-created by Benedict Fritz and Gerald Kelly.
Mechanics
In Dudeski, the player takes on the role of a skier who descends on the slope of Shred Lord, a giant and mysterious mountain. The skier slides down with high speed - the reason for this is because he is chased by an avalanche, which is getting closer with every missed ski goal. As if that wasn't enough, procedurally generated track is full of obstacles (bushes, trees, rocks, ice traps, and later also the yeti), which can stop us from reaching the foot of the mountain.
The aim of the game is to cover as much distance as possible. A variety of improvements (e.g. a crash helmet, or better skis for faster downhill) and helpful shortcuts that the player unlocks during meetings with mountain penguins help in this process. Pine-cones, found along the way, serve as the in-game currency. The mountain itself is divided into four sections: Top of the Mountain, The Forest, Yeti Valley and Totem Trials. They differ in appearance and type of obstacles that determine the level of difficulty.
Technical aspects
The title surprises at many moments, mainly with its surrealism which increases in intensity as you go down the mountain. They work perfectly with the 2D graphics design maintained in an old-school style.
