Drylands Description
Drylands is a postapocalyptic platformer released on iOS system enriched with strong RPG elements. The title came from the hands of Angry Bugs studio employees and it is a production belonging to the premium category, so it does not have any micropayments.
The action takes place in a gloomy future, in a world destroyed by an unspecified cataclysm. It led to the collapse of human civilisation and caused that there is practically no more water on Earth. We play the role of an experienced warrior, and we start the campaign in the cell, imprisoned for small offenses. The hero is quickly released in exchange for a promise to help the inhabitants of a small town to repel the attacks of bandits. The production has a surprisingly complex plot, and those who want to extract from it a lot of additional information about the universe by searching for journals and video records.
At first glance, Drylands resembles a typical 2D platformer. We explore extensive maps, collect items, fight enemies and avoid traps. However, the structure of the game was taken from the RPG production. Instead of a linear sequence of levels we get to explore a large world with a partially open structure. During the game we meet many NPCs who entrust us with specific missions. In addition, there is an interesting equipment system, where weapons and equipment statistics are generated procedurally. In the same way, the game also creates groups of bandits, so that each game provides a new experience.
Interaction with the environment plays an important role in the play. We can, among other things, use shields during the exchange of fire, break into computer systems and take control over doors, drones, cameras and watchtowers. The game is made more attractive by the clashes with powerful bosses. There was also a system of hero's development, in which we buy skills for gained experience points.
