An innovative hybrid of a strategy, a card game and a roguelite. Drop Duchy offers gameplay similar to Tetris and is set in a world inspired by the Middle Ages. We play as a prince and our job is to take care of our lands.

Drop Duchy is a strategy game that combines the elements of building a settlement (in the style of logic games like Tetris) with a card game and a roguelite. The game takes us back to the Middle Ages, where every wrong decision can lead to the fall of our kingdom. The development was handled by the independent studio Sleepy Mill, for which this is their debut production.

Gameplay

The basis of the game in Drop Duchy is using an unusual construction system - instead of classic structures, we place tiles/blocks of various shapes and effects. They symbolize various buildings, terrain forms and resources.

The goal is not to create simple lines for which we receive points, but to plan our moves in such a way as to develop infrastructure, gather resources and prepare for upcoming battles.

We have three playable factions at our disposal: the Duchy, the Republic, and the Order, each of which has unique quests, gameplay style, and exclusive rewards. For example, playing as the Republic, we have the ability to build Neighborhoods, which are only available for this faction and generate a new resource in the form of residents.

We are able to improve and develop our settlement using a deck of cards. Apart from cards allowing to build new structures, the deck also includes those dedicated to technological and combat development. Thanks to them, we recruit new soldiers and gain other bonuses. We acquire cards and additional resources by completing challenges.
