Mechanics
Drift Streets Japan on the titular drifting, a driving technique that consists of making a controlled slip. We have access to cars that differ in terms of appearance, handling and performance. The creators have managed to obtain a license to use real brands and models, so we can drive such classics as the Nissan 200SX, Toyota Supra, or even Mazda RX-7.
The core of the game is to complete the routes and gain as many points as possible - the game rewards long and spectacular slides, and additional multipliers are obtained both after driving close to an obstacle, as well as after changing the direction of driving. Other modes include racing at 1/4 mile, as well as the standard competition where we have to cross the finish line first.
In addition, the game features the extensive appearance and mechanical tuning options - it is possible not only to improve engine parameters but also change the drive type. It is worth mentioning that cars are susceptible to damage and act accordingly to physics.
Game modes
Drift Streets Japan offers single-player and online modes - the multiplayer allows up to 32 players to play together.
Technical aspects
Drift Streets Japan on a PC doesn't impress with its graphics - the low detail and low texture resolution, however, allowed to keep the hardware requirements low, so that owners of older PCs can expect the game to run smoothly.
