Dreadlands is a turn-based strategy game designed for multiplayer experience. The game was developed by an independent team of Blackfox Studios and was released by Fatshark, the authors of the popular Warhammer: Vermintide series.

Plot

Dreadlands takes players to the postapocalyptic world, whose inhabitants are waging a constant war for the resources of Glonithium - a valuable resource also known as Glow. During the game, players take control of mercenary gangs; as they traverse the wilderness, these groups fight against enemy troops and face other threats lurking on them.

Mechanics

In Dreadlands the action is shown from the top-down perspective. Players get to explore a world divided into different regions. While traversing it, one can carry out numerous tasks, as well as fight in turn-based battles with encountered opponents including adversaries controlled by the in-gameartificial intelligence, as well as units belonging to other players. In the course of the game, players acquire resources that they use to expand their headquarters and purchase various improvements. One's soldiers gain experience points and advance to the next levels, gaining access to various combat skills.

Game modes

The pillar of Dreadlands is a fictional campaign that can be completed in cooperation with another player. In addition, the ability to fight battles with other participants of the struggle introduces the PvP element to the game.

Dreadlands has colourful visuals made in cel-shading technique, which in terms of style evokes associations with Borderlands series or Seven: The Days Long Gone.
