A remake of the seventh part of the popular Japanese series of jRPG games (also known in the USA as Dragon Warrior), the origins of which date back to the second half of the 1980s. The original version of the game was released in 2000 on PlayStation and developed by the Japanese Heart Beat studio (which got disbanded in 2002). The new edition was developed by ArtePiazza, a studio that has already worked on eight other titles of the series. Recognized in Japan as one of the best productions of all time, the remake of Dragon Quest VII received new graphics and several add-ons.
Plot
The plot of Dragon Quest VII tells the story of a young hero, whose father accidentally came into possession of a map of the old world. The little hero learns from it about the existence of huge continents on the planet from years ago, which were later exterminated. Soon, the brave traveler discovers a way to travel in time and moves into the past to save legendary lands and thus change his world. He is accompanied by devoted friends, including Prince Kiefer and charming Maribel.
Mechanics
Dragon Quest VII is a traditional Japanese RPG, in which exploration of the world and the complex plot are complemented by turn-based fights. Like the previous installments of the series, the seventh part allows you to train the heroes in various classes and teach them a whole lot of useful skills. We can choose such professions as paladin, magician, dancer, thief or pirate. Unlike many competing titles, Dragon Quest VII doesn't just have one world waiting for players, but several different universes, which the heroes get to know during their time travels.
Technical aspects
Unlike the original Dragon Quest VII, which was originally released at the beginning of the 21st century, the remake has three-dimensional graphics. The creators have prepared new character models and spell effects, as well as modernized the appearance of the locations.
