Game Rant: 2.5 / 5 by Dalton Cooper
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a genius idea on paper and can be fun at times, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Pure Nintendo: 4.5 / 10 by Ted Hazell
DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS incorporates a niche but successful formula into a similarly successful franchise, which should be a match made in heaven. However, due to graphical and technical issues paired with the unbalanced gameplay and unclear progression and menus, it results in a bit of a mess of a game. It was worth a shot, but I feel as though Dragon Ball should stick to what it knows best.
PC Gamer: 55 / 100 by Luke Winkie
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is the latest game to cash in on the cat-and-mouse multiplayer boom. Unfortunately, it does so without any of the mechanical depth that makes those games great.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers Description
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an online action game on the license of the popular Japanese comics and cartoons. It was developed by Dimps studio, the authors of Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2.
Plot
The game tells the story of a group of unlucky people who fall into a time rift, where they come face to face with a superpowerful villain. They must find a way to escape from this place before they are killed.
Mechanics
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an asymmetrical multiplayer game. Eight players take part in the game. Seven of them control Survivors and one controls a lone super-warrior, The Raider, who hunts them down.
The Survivors have no fighting powers and must rely on gadgets, weapons and vehicles. Direct confrontations with the enemy usually end tragically, so they have to be clever, and often the best option is to avoid detection or flee. Their main goal is to find parts for the time machine, allowing them to get out of the time rift. They must hurry, however, as the Raider grows more powerful with every passing minute.
The single player controlling the Raider can choose between several famous villains from the Dragon Ball brand's history, such as Freeza, Cell and Buu. Each has unique special abilities. Regardless of who we bet on, we gain control over a powerful warrior who can not only eliminate people with ease, but also destroy elements of the environment.
The game has a wide selection of maps and cosmetic items, allowing you to change the appearance of your character. Additional bonuses and items can be obtained through loading saves from Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2.
Game modes
The game offers a multiplayer mode only.
Technical aspects
Dragon Ball: The Breakers features fully 3D graphics done in a heavily cartoonish style modelled on the cartoon incarnation of the brand.
