Dot Runner: Complete Edition is an action game created by Japanese studio Intense, known from the Escape Trick series. In the Land of Cherry Blossom appeared almost a year earlier than in the USA under the title Dot Eater: New PicDun.
The action of the game takes place in dungeons of Skillets. Four friends (Sparerib, Bolt, Brisket, Veggie) set off on a journey to defeat their eternal enemies - Yakkini-kus. Interestingly, the story takes place both in the past (986) and in the future (3015). Changing the time frame affects the appearance of the heroes, their capabilities, even the names change. Returning back in time we play so: Rib-Eyem, Boltno, Chuck and Greens. However, this does not have a major impact on the mechanics of the game, because the rules remain the same. We only kill different-looking opponents, and of course we have different weapons at our disposal.
The game is about destroying monsters within a set time limit. Gameplay is shown simultaneously from two perspectives. On the top screen of the pocket we see the right action in full 3D, while the bottom screen makes a kind of map, which in a friendly way shows us the location of the opponents and the layout of the dungeon. It can also be used for tactical planning. The control is uncomplicated and is based on blows and blocking. The combat system has been simplified as much as possible, only simple combos are available.
Production uses many handheld functions, including the 3D effect. In addition, the U.S. edition includes several enhancements and new features that are not available in the Japanese version. In total, therefore, more than 100 systems have been made available.
