Dokuro, released on PSV, PC, AND, Switch and iOS, is a classic two-dimensional platformer in which we save a beautiful princess from the hands of cruel Dark Lord. The title was developed by GameArts studio, known from such series as Grandia and Lunar.

Plot

We play the role of the title character Dokuro - a skeleton warrior, faithfully serving his master Dark Lord for years. One day, however, the cruel ruler kidnaps a beautiful princess and decides to force her to marry. The crying of the princess moves Dokuro's heart to such an extent that he decides to help the princess in her escape from the tyrant's castle. In order to do so, he will have to travel through trapped locations and face up to his recent companions, the servants of Dark Lord.

Mechanics

The mechanics of the game are standard for this genre, and the game's goal is to lead the princess safely through nearly 150 rooms of the castle. However, Dokuro we control is just an ordinary skeleton and in its basic form, it can only perform simple activities such as jumping and pushing or pulling objects or levers. However, after drinking a special elixir, our protagonist transforms into a real superhero, who can use the sword fluently and, if necessary, carry the princess on his shoulders. Appropriate manipulation of these two forms is the key to overcoming further obstacles on the way to completing the game.

Technical aspects

A characteristic feature of Dokuro is the original graphic design, stylized on carbon drawn illustrations for children. During the game, we are accompanied mainly by black and white, and the colors appearing quite rarely serve mainly to build the mood and signal places and objects important for the course of the game. The PC version has been further enhanced with new visual effects, a re-engineered user interface and a whole range of Steam achievements.
