An original arcade logic game with a bit of mathematics and dark humor, created by a duo of Russian developers. The player’s objective is to save herds of sheep from flooding caused by The Grim Reaper. We have to throw the sheep across a series of small islands so they can reach rescue dinghies. Each of the islands can only hold a certain amount of animals, so to use them efficiently, some basic mathematics will be needed.

Divide by Sheep for PC and iOS is an original arcade logic game a dose of mathematics and dark humour. The game was created by a duo of Russian developers, Wiktor Solodilow i Denis Nowikow, while the game was distributed by tinyBuild, an experienced team who managed to find a few solid independent titles, such as Speed Runners, Not the Robots, Spoiler Alert, Fearless Fantasy, or No Time to Explain.

Plot

The gameplay is complemented by a humoristic plot. As a result of ensuing loneliness, The Grim Reaper has desired his own bevy of spectral sheep. However, to get the souls, some real animals need to donate their spirit. He decides to bring a tremendous flood to Earth that will consume a large number of innocent, wooly beings. Our task is to thwart Death’s plans, and save as many sheep as possible.

Mechanics

Our objective is to throw the titular sheep between small islands in order to help them reach awaiting dinghies. Each of the islands can only hold a certain number of animals, so a bit of mathematics is required for the whole operation to work out nicely. The operation is further constricted by series of dangers, including laser beams that cut the animals in half, ravenous wolves, or even the legendary Kraken itself. In all, we are left with 120 varied levels in 4 different worlds with an increasing difficulty level as the campaign progresses.

Divide by Sheep for PC and iOS is characterized by its rather simple visuals and intuitive controls, while thought-out puzzles and a set of achievements to unlock induce the player to further thought and gameplay. Interestingly enough, even with the humoristic atmosphere, the game is quite violent, and it’s not recommended for younger players.
