Disney The Lion King Description
Disney The Lion King is a classic platform game developed by Westwood Studios.
Story
The story presented in Disney The Lion King is based on the story of an animated film titled The Lion King - the game tries to recreate the events presented in it as faithfully as possible. During the game, we play the role of a lion named Simba, whose aim is to dethrone Scar - the usurper who killed king Mufasa, the father of our protagonist. During the adventure, we observe the transformation of the main character - from a young and clumsy cub to a proud and strong lion.
Mechanics
Disney The Lion King offers ten main stages, set in places known from the original movie, complemented by bonus levels, in which we take control of Timon and Pumba.
During the game, the action is presented from the side (the exception is The Stampede mission, in which Simba, escaping from a herd of antelopes, is observed from the front). Playing is limited to going right, jumping over platforms, and avoiding traps waiting for the protagonist. In the course of the struggle we also face opponents - although young Simba defeats his adversaries by jumping on their heads, over time he learns to roar and stun enemies, throw enemies or finally scratch them with claws. It is worth remembering that the hero has a limited number of lives, which he loses when his health bar drops to zero.
In addition, during the game we collect various worms - while some regenerate the bars of roar and health, others permanently lengthen them and give access to the aforementioned bonus stages.
Technical aspects
Pixel art visuals of Disney The Lion King can still please the eye because the devs have kept them in a style known from the film original. We can also like the arrangements of songs such as I Just Can't Wait to Be King and Hakuna Matata, which accompany us during the fun.
