Disney Art Academy
Release Date: April 7, 2016
Puzzle, educational, Disney, Nintendo exclusive, singleplayer
Another application from Nintendo 3DS’ Art Academy, a series of educational games that teach us how to draw. Unlike its Pokémon-centered predecessor, this time we are given a completely new challenge, trying to create images of over 80 characters known from animated duo of Disney and Pixar.
Disney Art Academy Description
Disney Art Academy is a game from the Art Academy series, which is modelled on Pokemon Art Academy. So this is not a normal title, but a kind of educational app that tries to teach us how to draw. Headstrong Games is responsible for the production, but it was published by Nintendo, the studio known from Super Mario platformers, Pokemon and several other iconic franchises.
Mechanics
The app does not have any engaging storyline, as the players face only one challenge - to learn how to paint over 80 characters (including Elsa and Olaf from Frozen, Mickey Mouse, Inside Out characters and many others) from animated films created by Disney and Pixar. The application provides us with all the necessary tools (including brushes, markers, paints, etc.) and conducts a series of lessons explaining all the mechanisms governing Disney Art Academy. Once we've learned about each element, we can also start using the Free Paint mode, which enables us to create any image we like. All of this is complemented by social features thatenable us to share our creations with other players via Miiverse, social media or by uploading drawings to other consoles via wireless network. In addition, all images are saved on a memory card in order for us to be able to print them in the future.
