Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! on PC and PS1 (in Europe known as Discworld II: Missing Presumed....!?) is the second adventure game by Psygnosis, about the adventures of the sorcerer Rincewind, one of the main characters of the famous book saga World of Drive by Terry Pratchett. This time the program was prepared by Perfect Entertainment studio, which was previously responsible for converting the first Discworld to Sega Saturn console.

The plot of the game concentrates around Death, which, while prolonging its holidays, strongly neglects its basic duties. The absence of the skeleton quickly causes a lot of confusion in the disc world, as Rincewind himself learns on his own skin, miraculously escaping life during an explosion detonated just next to the explosive charge. After this event, finding Death and convincing him to return becomes the main task of the incompetent wizard, and thus also your player.

Technically, Discworld II is no different from classic point-and-click adventures. The user controls Rincewind with the mouse or joypad (on the console), pointing on the screen where the wizard should go. The interaction with NPCs and NPCs takes place after double-clicking on a selected object - the program automatically selects the appropriate command. The only exception to this rule is a conversation with other inhabitants of the disk world. When you start a conversation, a special menu opens immediately, where you can select topics to talk, symbolized by several icons. Rincewind can carry only two items with him, but during the game he is always accompanied by a capacious case, able to store an unlimited number of things.

The second part of the Discworld series is full of crazy humour, characteristic of Pratchett's work. As in the first part of the cycle, Eric Idle, a comedian belonging to the legendary Monty Python group, also played the role of Rincewind here. On the other hand, a lot of changes took place in the visual setting. The product works in higher resolution and quality, offering much better graphics than its original.
