Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival

Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival for is an arcade football game and a new version of the cult series of the 1980s and 1990s which—together with Sensible Soccer—absolutely dominated the football game market for Amiga and Atari ST computers. This version was created by Dino Dini, the legendary British developer, which also created the original first two titles of the Kick Off franchise in 1989–1990, and a spiritual successor of the series, Goal!, for Virgin Games, three years later. It's also worth noting that the idea of creating another instalment in the franchise came from Sony, which also funded the production of the game. That's also why Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival was only released for Sony gaming platforms, such as PS4, PC and PSV.

Mechanics

Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival was designed so that the mechanics would remain faithful to the classic titles in the series, and the gameplay would retain its distinct oldschool charm. However, the game features many changes and upgrades, adjusting the old-fashioned mechanics to the modern gameplay model. On the one hand, it features the familiar elements of the franchise, such as the fast pace of the matches and high difficulty level. The ball doesn't “stick” to the player's foot anymore, and controlling it requires a lot of effort and experience. At the same time, all those elements have been largely expanded and tailored for modern analogue gamepad users, which provide for more comfortable use than the classic digital controllers from almost 25 years ago. This resulted in e.g. much more freedom when it comes to passing the ball and precise striking.

Technical aspects

Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival for PS4, PC and PSV features—just like most modern games—fully 3D graphics, which allows you to watch the game using several different camera angles. The default angle is the classic top-down view, the same as in the earlier instalments of the series.
