A free action adventure game which is a marketing material from Devolver Digital. This game by the Polish studio Flying Wild Hog allows us to visit an abandoned building full of materials from the titles that were to be shown at the E3 2020.
Devolverland Expo is an unusual action adventure game that acts as a "marketing simulator". The project serves as a conference for Devolver Digital, and the creators of Shadow Warrior series from Polish studio Flying Wild Hog are responsible for its development.
Plot
The action of the game takes place in an abandoned, fictitious congress centre, where the event organized by Devolver Digiltal was to take place. However, the show was cancelled under mysterious circumstances. The hero, who is directed by us, decides to sneak into the building to get the gadgets left in it and see the game materials.
Mechanics
Devolverland Expo is a typical action adventure game with FPP. We observe the world from the perspective of the first person and visit the next locations, solving simple puzzles and watching out for enemies and other obstacles. In this case, our enemy is an advanced protection system, consisting mainly of robots patrolling the halls. The hero is not completely defenseless: we quickly get one of the new weapons from Serious Sam 4. However, if detected by mechanical guards, the game can end immediately. Luckily, the creators took into account a large number of checkpoints, thanks to which, after a failure, we do not have a long journey to the same place.
The main attraction of the game is the main location itself. The developers recreated the planned exhibition of Devolver Digital, which we were supposed to see at E3 2020. Of course, the Polish studio did not fail to let the leaders fantasize about the location and strongly improved its appearance. Here you will find stands devoted to unreleased games and a lot of collectibles and videos devoted to these games (including game shows). Among the games presented in Devolverland Expo there were: Carrion, Shadow Warrior 3, Weird West, Blightbound, Olija, Serious Sam 4, Disc Room and Fall Guys.
Technical aspects
As for free game released for marketing purposes, Devolverland Expo offers high quality visuals. Flying Wild Hog Studio used the engine developed for the modern versions of Shadow Warrior series.
