It was developed by Polish indie studio Anshar, whose members contributed to such titles as Lords of the Fallen or Sniper: Ghost Warrior. The story takes place in the future, in the age of uninhibited deep space exploration. Detached is a high sci-fi FPP/FPX (First Person Experience) action game, focusing mainly on the PvP multiplayer mode. The game, released for PC, is one of the first Polish games created for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It was developed by an independent studio, Anshar, whose members have worked on such titles as Lords of the Fallen or Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

Plot

The story of Detached takes place in the future, when humanity has developed the technology allowing deep space travel. The possibility to act outside the Earthly jurisdiction (which reaches as far as our galaxy) made it possible for powerful private corporations to freely explore space and gather valuable resources found out there—everything, of course, according to their own set of rules. The situation gets complicated when one of the leading corporations, Genesis, finds an active alien artefact and transforms one of its mines into a research facility. Unfortunately, their rival corporation, R17, learns of the fact and sends its troops to seize the object, instigating the beginning of the end of both factions.

Mechanics

The players pick their side of the conflic and take on the roles of the last surviving members of the either Genesis R17. Their main objective is further survival and finding a way to return home. There's more, however, as at the same time they have to outsmart the opposite faction member, who's trying to fulfill similar goals somewhere in the same area.

Detached features a wide open world and focuses on three main aspects: exploration, survival, and rivalry. During the game, you solve various puzzles and search for resources such as fuel or oxygen. There's also no shortage of direct encounters with the enemy and firefights. The game can be considered as a slightly less violent capture-the-flag mode, known from many online multiplayer shooters, with added exploration and survival elements. Moreover, the gameplay varies depending on your chosen faction, featuring slightly altered puzzles and tasks, and, first of all, a different fight style.

Game mode

Detached was created primarily with the PvP and one-on-one multiplayer modes in mind. However, the game also features a singleplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Detached for PC utilizes the acclaimed Unreal Engine 4 and features attractive 3D visuals, which makes the game stand out amongst other VR titles. At the same time, the use of virtual reality headgear provides unique gameplay experience and immersion level, unparalleled in the more traditional games of the genre.
