[0:32] Desync trailer #1
Critical Hit: 7 / 10 by Darryn Bonthuys
DESYNC mixes fast-paced action with gnarly visuals of a bygone era, living up to a promise that that it’ll kick 50 shades of neon out of your butt and then some. Your mileage on such punishing and relentless gameplay however, might vary depending on your tolerance for pain and synth.
VGProfessional: 8.3 / 10 by Mazen Abdallah
Desync can be frustrating at times, but it’s a well-designed shooter that forces you to focus and choose your moves carefully as you battle hordes of neon monsters. Its thumping, bass-heavy soundtrack and neon world make for a very immersive shooter experience, and it’s an easy recommendation for fans of shooters.
NoobFeed: 45 / 100 by Daav Valentaten
Desync could’ve been the best shooter since Bulletstorm, especially since that road hasn’t been trotted to death, but it simply doesn’t get past its own vain design issues.
Desync Description
Desync is a dynamic shooter developed by The Foregone Syndicate studio. It has been released for PC by Adult Swim Games company.
Game mechanics
Desync uses first-person perspective (FPP) and is based on facing hordes of enemies, led by powerful bosses called Zone Defenders who defend access to each stage. Vast arsenal includes pistols, machine guns, shotguns and explosives, all of them with alternative fire mode. Players also collect the so-called Fragments, which can be traded for new weapons and upgrades for character.
While proper handling of weapons is a key to success, players must also make use of possibilities offered by environment (there are many traps that enemy can be lured in, like spikes), dodging enemies’ assaults and combining attacks into effective combinations that deal more damage. These are important because, obviously, our hero isn’t immortal, although his health can be replenished by picking up power-ups dropped by the enemies after death.
Game modes
Desync for PC has been developed solely as single player experience. However, a special scoring system oversees players’ actions and promotes unconventional actions. Thanks to that, there is a substitute of multiplayer in form of leader boards, where players can show of their achievements. Additionally, it is possible to return to already cleared stages that take the form of Dark Zones – a much more challenging tasks with gameplay enhanced with various modifiers.
Technical aspects
Desync stands out with its unique, three-dimensional visuals that use neon style resembling the TRON 2.0 game. An especially composed electronic soundtrack can also please players and is available as standalone product as well.
