Debris Description
Debris for PC is an action-adventure game with survival horror elements by indie Canadian studio Moonray Studios, who cooperated with renowned psychologists during the creation of the game.
Plot
In Debris, you play as a group of divers, whose task is to film a meteorite located deep underneath the Arctic ice – the space rock can function as an incredibly efficient source of clean energy. Things go awry, however, and an explosion blocks the protagonists' return path. From that moment onward, the goal shifts to trying to find another way out of the underwater labyrinth before the oxygen runs out.
Mechanics
Debris for PC is an FPP game. The production focuses on exploration of the oceanic depths, similar in size to New York's Manhattan. They're full of mysterious, beautiful, bio-luminescent creatures, which, as the protagonists soon find out, can also be dangerous. It's worth noting that the behavior of the local fauna if not scripted in any way, so you can never be sure if a predator will attack you or simply swim away. Fortunately, the divers are not defenseless, as they can use futuristic tools, which can function as weapons when needed.
Since your oxygen can run out really quickly (although it can be partially restored by using the reserves carried by a squid-like robot), one by one, the divers gradually succumb to madness. The gameplay is also non-linear, and your decisions impact not only your path, but also the ending of the adventure.
Game mode
While you can play Debris on your own, the game also features an online co-op multiplayer mode for two players.
Technical aspects
The 3D visuals of Debris are of very high quality – especially notable are the detailed and well-animated aquatic animals. The original soundtrack effectively complements the grim atmosphere of the production.
