Deathbound is a soulslike action RPG. It was developed by the Brazilian team Trialforge Studio and published by the Polish company Tate Multimedia.

Plot

Deathbound is set in Ziêminal, a grim fantasy world torn apart by a bloody war between the spiritual Church of Death and the scientific Cult of Life dreaming of immortality. The war seems settled once the Church lays siege to the great city of Akratya, built atop advanced technological ruins.

The playable character is a warrior created through forbidden experiments, fighting through a city on a bloody crusade to survive.

Mechanics

Deathbound is a third-person game. The gameplay core is combat, both against hostile warriors and monsters inspired by the five stages of grief. Alongside regular enemies we'll also face powerful bosses. We can dispatch enemies using melee weapons and various skills.

The protagonist is able to absorb the essence of defeated warriors. This grants him their identities, memories and combat skills. The player can freely switch between acquired personalities, chain attacks of different identities into deadly combos and execute powerful finishing moves. The deceased warrior's former allegiance affects how he synergizes with other warriors after death.
