Death Road 2, released on PC, PS3 and X360, is a futuristic racing games. Its concept is reminiscent of the Wipeout or Rollcage series. Both the first and the second game in the series were created by Active Zone studio.
Mechanics
The game itself does not differ from the first part of the series. This time, however, the developers tried to diversify the fun by increasing the number of available tracks, cars and weapons, and allowing more advanced interaction with the environment.
The goal is to win a series of races held in ten different locations. Each of them presents a different style and is distinguished by different styles and colors. For example, we can race on the tracks leading through dense factories covered by smoke or futuristic cities filled with light with Latin-sounding names. We can drive over ten carefully designed cars, each of which has its own specific technical parameters. Some are characterized by greater durability. Others can reach high speed. During the game, we can use laser guns and various types of secondary weapons, allowing for more effective elimination of enemies. As in the first installment of the series, the player can use plasma rifles, lasers and powerful guided rockets. There are ten weapons in total, they differ in properties and have a limited amount of ammunition, which we have to increase by collecting bonuses scattered on the tracks.
Compared to the first Death Road, the developers tried to interact more with the environment. The environment objects can give us a slight advantage over the rivals and contribute to the already dynamic gameplay. Also, the game has addressed several problems related to the different control problems.
Game modes
Death Road 2 allows up to 8 players to play in multiplayer mode. The game also offers numerous achievements.
Technical asepcts
In terms of audiovisual setting, Death Road 2 looks similar to the first installment of the series. The title uses an advanced Nemesis engine. As for the tracks, the developers decided to diversify them by focusing on details and the atmosphere of individual locations. The music present in the game perfectly reflects the atmosphere of dynamic races on futuristic tracks.
