Deadly Dozen Reloaded is a remake of Deadly Dozen, a tactical shooter released in 2001, referring to the well-known movie. It was developed by the creators of the original game, N-Fusion Interactive studio, and published by Ziggurat.
Plot
Deadly Dozen Reloaded takes us to the times of World War II. On the order of President Dwight D. Eisenhower the United States create a special operational unit whose goal is to carry out the most dangerous, secret missions behind enemy lines. We're talking about the titular Deadly Dozen, whose members are thrown into such places as the picturesque French hills, sun-scorched Africa or, finally, lands belonging to the Third Reich.
Game mechanics
In Deadly Dozen Reloaded, we observe the action from a first (FPP) or third (TPP) person perspective. The game consists of ten missions that take place on different maps. On each of them we can take a four-person team, created by soldiers who are differentiated in terms of preferred weaponry and style of fighting the enemy. It's up to us whether we'll bet on silent action, try to move on the enemy with a battle cry on our lips and guns in our hands or we'll undertake to blow up everything that stands in our way. Our subordinates have a total of 11 weapons at their disposal (6 American and 5 German), as well as 7 useful elements of equipment (such as first aid kits, binoculars or explosives).
We control a single soldier directly (we can freely switch between team members), and we give simple commands to the rest of the team (like moving to a specific place, attacking a selected target or changing formation). Regardless of the chosen style of play, success is ensured both by an accurate eye and reflexes, as well as the ability to efficiently manage the squad. It should be mentioned that the maps on which the game takes place are large, and moving around them is made easier by the use of various vehicles - from motorcycles, through cars and trucks, to tanks.
Compared to the original, the remake stands out due to improved AI (which applies both to our companions and opponents). Besides, the authors resigned from the permadeath mechanics, thanks to which team members who died during the mission can take part in the next ones.
Technical aspects
Deadly Dozen Reloaded features graphics of a quite good quality. The authors took care of all the elements - from environmental elements, through character models to lighting. This treatment made the whole, although it may stand out from the greats of the genre, looks incomparably better than the old original. The audio layer has also been improved, with reverb and occlusion effects, as well as surround sound support.
