Another expansion to Dead Rising 2 that constitutes a kind of epilogue to the events of the base game. This time around, the players get to seethe protagonist of the first installment of the series - Frank West - in action along with Chuck Greene. It is up to the two of them to stop another zombie threat and make sure that no one knows about Chuck’s involvement in the whole undertaking.

Case West is the second DLC for Dead Rising 2, a TPP action game, in which a player has to face hundreds, if not thousands of zombies that have swarmed Fortune City. This expansion has been released after the core game and constitutes a kind of an epilogue to the events presented in Dead Rising 2. Both the core game and the expansion have been developed by Capcom.

Plot

This time around, the players get to see in action the protagonist of the first series’ installment – Frank West. He must join his forces with Chuck Greene, known from the sequel in order to stop yet another threat posed by the zombies and make sure that nobody knows of the Greene’s involvement in this undertaking. The plot that surrounds the gameplay is a highlight of the game, especially to the fans of Dead Rising that feel attached to Frank West, who did not star in the sequel. With this expansion, a player can, yet again, assume the role of West.

Mechanics

Gameplay mechanics look similar to what one might have experienced in the core game. All the abilities featured by the main protagonist remain the same – this includes the ability to combine various items in order to create special weapons to fight the zombies. Players have to face hordes of living dead advancing on the player in hundreds, if not thousands. To effectively eliminate them, one can utilize various fancy weapons – from the more standard to those unconventional ones, such as flowerpots, umbrellas, and teddy bears. The main asset of the game is the fact that one can use nearly any object found lying around, and it is up to the player’s imagination to decide what to kill zombies with.

Technical aspects

The cooperative game mode is a strong asset of the Case West DLC. Owners of the ‘Gold’ Xbox Live expansion can finish the entire episode along with a friend – one player assumes the role of Frank, while the other – of Chuck. This kind of cooperation delivers much more fun and allows dealing with all the zombies in various ways. By combining different ways of defeating the living dead, players can increase their efficiency, especially when the players choose different types of weapons, which the game offers a whole lot of.
