Dead Island: Definitive Collection Description
Dead Island: Definitive Collection for PC, PS4 and XONE is a bundle of the two remastered Dead Island games: the 2011’s Dead Island and the 2013’s Dead Island Riptide as well as every DLC released for them. Both productions were developed by Techland, a Polish studio behind Dying Light, among other titles, and published by Deep Silver. What is interesting, the enhanced editions of both games can be bought separately via digital distribution channels.
Story
The stories told in Dead Island: Definitive Collection are identical to those known from Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide. In the former, we find ourselves on the island of Banoi, near Papua New Guinea, where we assume the role of one of four characters who have to fight for survival because the location is overrun by zombies. The latter production continues the themes of its predecessor and has us face hundreds of zombies yet again. However, this time around, the action takes place on the island of Palanai.
Gameplay
Dead Island: Definitive Collection is a first-person action game with RPG elements which mainly involvee exploration of the environment and performing various primary and secondary quests. A great emphasis was put on melee combat, while the gameplay works best in cooperation mode, although it is possible to play solo, as well.
In comparison with the original productions, Definitive Collection offers an enhanced user interface, among other things. The PlayStation 4 version now supports the Remote-Play and Share-Play systems. A modification of Power Fists Power-Up was also introduced. An additional attraction is a two-dimensional side-scroll fighting game called Dead Island Retro Revenge.
Technical aspects
Dead Island: Definitive Collection for PC, PS4 and XONE offers significantly enhanced graphics powered by the Chrome Engine 6 technology. The title boasts high-quality textures, a new lighting system, improved character models, and enhanced visual effects such as anti-aliasing, HBAO, or motion blur. These elements made sure that the game doesn’t lag behind other titles, designed with the 8th generation in mind.
