Plot

The game’s plot is quite simple. You find yourself in the world taken over by zombies and your objective is to make sure that the group of survivors remains alive. The title offers much freedom and allows you to shape fates of the characters. Each decision leads the story to one of six alternative endings.

Mechanics

Dead Age for PC is an RPG that emphasises survival aspects. At the beginning you arrive at the survivor’s camp which ensures a relative safety, but soon you have to step outside in order to find essential resources. During gameplay you need to manage food and other resources reasonably and constantly upgrade your shelter, craft items, and take good care of the survivors’ health.

In Dead Age’s world, there are more threats than just zombies. Players also have to face gangs and other groups of survivors. The turn-based combat system is modelled on the Final Fantasy series. Characters who die during a fight cannot be revived – each death is final and permanent.

The title puts emphasis on relations between characters. Players can form alliances with other factions and shape relations inside their own groups. You can develop friendships and romances, as well as negative relations that influence the situation in your base and characters’ behaviour during missions.

Gameplay is complemented with random elements, like groups of survivors or missions, so you always have something to do while playing.
