Day of the Tentacle, a continuation of the great title Maniac Mansion from the LucasArts stable, has become the best adventure game of all time. Of course, due to their age, graphic solutions and interface significantly differ from the modern standards to which we are now accustomed, but in those days, what counted was the ingenuity of the plot, unusual adventures and riddles, which were certainly not lacking here. Although the game is referred to as the sequel Maniac Mansion, apart from the use of similarly crazy ideas, it has not much in common with it.
The game's formula is maintained in an extremely surrealistic convention resembling funny class C horrors, where every step we meet crazy scientists and their sick inventions. A concoction created by the mad Dr. Fred accidentally drinks one of the matzevot created by him (purple tentacle), and then mutates into a creature thirsting for power over the world with the mind of a genius. Dr. Fred decides to send into the past a group of three friends: Bernard, Hoggie and Laverna, whose task will be to prevent the creation of a dangerous concoction and to thwart the evil plans to capture the world by reasonable jelly. Unfortunately, a poor scientist put artificial diamonds instead of real diamonds into a time machine, which caused Hoggie to travel 200 years into the past and Lavern 200 years into the future. This is how the whole adventure begins, in which we have to move in time to the right period and perform the task entrusted to us by Dr. Fred.
