Dawngate Description
Dawngate is an online battle MOBA game, modeled on titles like Dota 2 and League of Legends. It was produced by Waystone Games in collaboration with Electronic Arts.
The game is set in a fantasy world full of magic, discreetly enriched with steampunk elements. Dawngate remains faithful to the basic principles of MOBA games so the gameplay consists of two teams of players battling each other. Each of the players controls a single hero equipped with a rich set of special abilities. The aim of the game is to destroy the enemy base. During the match we collect points that we spend on character development. Compared with typical MOBA game, the developers have considerably expanded the strategic aspects. So-called wells of souls were placed on the maps, providing a constant supply of raw materials. Each of such object generates collectors controlled by the artificial intelligence who automatically gather the energy needed to buy new powers, thus, a good way to weaken the enemy team is to attack his collectors. Moreover, if we control a region for a certain amount of time, we capture it, including its wells of souls.
Fight over territory plays a key role in every match, because of this, the watchtowers can only be damaged, and after some time they are automatically rebuilt. This system is easily readable – each tower is connected to the base with a stream of energy. After the destruction of a building, it is severed, then slowly starts to creep back into the tower. This ensures that we can quickly assess how much time before the object is reactivated.
Dawngate is friendlier for newbies than typical MOBA productions. Simple interface and training modes make it easy for them to understand the basic rules of the game and achieve a decent level of skill. The story also plays an important role. Not only the characters have their own stories, but also every one of the maps.
