Steam
A survival horror game with a top down view. Darkwood is the first commercial project of a Polish studio, Acid Wizard, and its development has been backed up by users voting on the Steam Greenlight platform. The game takes place in a procedurally generated open world, with the player placed in the role of a character trying to survive the confrontations with supernatural beings without losing his sanity in the eponymous dark wood.
Darkwood for PC is a survival horror game in which the action is shown from the aerial perspective. This is the first commercial production of a Polish studio, Acid Wizard.
Gameplay
The gameplay is divided into two stages. During the night we have to defend our home against the forces of darkness. However, during the day we go to explore the nearby forest in search of materials to effectively repel enemies after dark. Contacts with superhuman beings are not without an impact on the psyche of the protagonist. With time, he begins to sink into madness, and it is increasingly difficult for him to tell what is true and what is just insane hallucination.
Darkwood for PC is a survival horror taking place a in procedurally generated world with an open structure. The whole thing is very demanding, and the player is never guided by the hand. Instead, the survival is not an easy task and requires both good reflexes and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions. If you die, all game saves are deleted. This does not mean, however, that the next game will be started from scratch. Instead, some of the achievements from the previous session will proceed to the next incarnation of the hero.
Technology
The game engine each time generates a different map layout and fills it with new events. The game is enriched with RPG elements. In time, our hero will gain new skills that will help him survive. In addition, there is also a crafting system. With its help you create new items, strengthen your home security, build barricades, construct traps, and improve possessed objects.

Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln
Darkwood is, thankfully, rather unlike any other horror game on Switch. Those with a taste for survival games will appreciate the constant pressure to salvage parts and craft new items while a clock ticks down in the background, while those with a love for all things sinister will really appreciate some of the truly disturbing moments. Despite the occasional technical flaw, the result is a purposefully slow experience that rewards multiple playthroughs with a storyline that branches depending on just how far into madness you're willing to tread.
Hardcore Gamer: 3.5 / 5 by Chris Shive
Darkwood is one of those games where it's easy to have a mixed opinion on it.
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10
Darkwood is one of the most terrifying games I've ever played as it challenges you to explore and survive a dark and twisted world. Unravelling the mysteries of the night time horrors will consume you even before you try the permadeath mode. This comes highly recommended, but remember to wear your brown trousers.
