Darksiders Description
Darksiders: Wrath of War is an action RPG game developed by Vigil Games, a studio established by Joe Madureira, the author of such famous comic books series as X-Men, The Ultimates or Battle Chasers.
The story references the Apocalypse of St. John. We assume the role of War, one of the Four Horsemen foretold by the evangelist. He comes to Earth to destroy it, but it turns out he was cunningly deceived. As a consequence, the protagonist was stripped of most of his powers. If that was not enough, he becomes a target for both devils and angels. The Horseman of War, now abandoned by everyone, comes back to Earth and sets out on a journey to regain his abilities, find his lost steed, and uncover the mystery of the betrayal.
Technically, the story takes place in the near future, but the protagonist uses a classic “slasher” arsenal - a sword and giant scythe included. The list goes on, and is further complemented by cars or even bigger objects, for War can grab and throw them at his enemies. Furthermore, there are numerous upgrade to be gained in the course of gameplay. Apart from standard weapons, as we progress, we gradually regain access to our supernatural powers, which can really heat up the atmosphere.
The gameplay includes traveling through various locations and defeating hordes of enemies. The world has an open structure, making it possible to go back to the already cleared areas. We are in combat almost all the time, but there are moments when we have to think rather than fight. The visuals of Darksiders: Wrath of War feature a unique style created by Joe Madureira.
