Darksiders 3 is the third installment in the popular action-adventure game series where we control a super-powered protagonist and face the forces of our enemies. In previous games, developed by Vigil Games, we played as two horsemen of the Apocalypse, War and Death. Nintendo Life: 4 / 10 by PJ O'Reilly
Darksiders III on Switch is a poor port of a distinctly average entry in the series. Constant technical issues make fighting and platforming more frustrating than fun, long loading times follow every death and the further along you get, the worse these issues seem to become. It's a shame as we're pretty big fans of the series in general, but if you have any other means of playing this one we'd advise you give this clunky version a miss.
God is a Geek: 9 / 10 by Gary Bailey
Darksiders III is a stunning achievement, bringing the once-dead series back to life with aplomb.
Destructoid: 8 / 10 by Chris Carter
Most of my complaints are related to the RPG bits which are not the main focus of Darksiders III. It remains an action-fueled project and that's an angle it does well, reigning in some of the out-of-hand ideas from its predecessor. With all of the efforts to resurrect this once dead and buried series I hope there's a chance to wrap it all up with Strife: I want to see this story through until the end, blemishes and all.
The main pros of the game
- Engaging Story: Many players appreciated the storyline, describing it as captivating and a continuation of the Darksiders narrative.
- Visuals and Art Design: The graphics were frequently praised, with many noting that the game looks beautiful, especially in comparison to its predecessors.
- Combat System: The combat, while different from previous titles, was generally found to be enjoyable and rewarding once players adapted to the new mechanics. Some players appreciated the Souls-like elements that added a layer of challenge.
- Character Development: Fury, as a main character, was viewed as unique and distinct, with a personality that evolved throughout the game.
- Exploration Elements: Players enjoyed the exploration aspects of the game, including the discovery of secrets and the interconnected world design.
The main cons of the game
- Checkpoints and Difficulty: Players criticized the checkpoint system, stating that it often forced them to backtrack significantly after deaths, which made the game feel frustrating at times.
- Lack of Puzzles: Many users noted a significant reduction in puzzles compared to earlier installments, which they felt detracted from the overall experience.
- Limited Boss Variety: The bosses were described as lacking diversity and creativity, leading to repetitive encounters.
- Linear Level Design: Some found the game to be too linear, with a lack of exploration options compared to previous titles.
- Technical Issues: Several reviews mentioned bugs, crashes, and texture problems that affected gameplay experience.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Mount Mechanics: The absence of a mount (like the horse from previous games) was noted as a significant loss.
- Execution Moves: Players missed the execution moves that were iconic in earlier games.
- Diverse Loot System: The game was criticized for not having a robust loot system, with many items being found on the ground rather than in hidden chests.
- Map Navigation: The lack of a traditional map made navigation confusing for some players.
- Complex Puzzles: Users expressed disappointment over the absence of interesting or challenging puzzles, which were a hallmark of earlier Darksiders games.
Summary
- Overall, while "Darksiders III" has its share of fans who appreciate the new direction and mechanics, it also has a significant number of critics who miss the elements that defined the earlier titles in the series.

Darksiders III Description
Darksiders III for PC, PS4 and XONE is the third installment of the Darksiders slasher series that was created in 2010. The first two games of the series were developed by Vigil Games, but when its mother company, THQ, bankrupted, the studio was shut down and the Darksiders brand was sold to Austrian publisher Nordic Games (currently known as THQ Nordic). Darksiders III was developed by Gunfire Games, a studio made of developers who previously worked in Vigil Games.
Plot
We play as Fury, a sorceress whose job is to restore the balance of Good and Evil on Earth. To do so, we have to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their minions. Interestingly, Fury is the only horseman in the game not directly connected to the traditional representation of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Mechanics
Darksiders III for PC, PS4 and XONE, just like the series’ previous installments, is a hack’n’slash (combat-oriented action game). The game has rather complex combat mechanics that come with various attacks, combos, and powers. Fury is a powerful warrior who uses a whip and magic. She can use the latter to take various forms that grant her access to new weapons, moves, and abilities. The game takes place in a living and open post-apocalyptic world where, besides combat, many mysteries await us.
Technical Aspects
Darksiders III for PC, PS4 and XONE uses the same visual style as the series’ previous installments.

Darksiders Series
Darksiders is a series of action adventure games with RPG elements and a third-person perspective. The plot of the series is loosely based on the biblical Book of Revelation, also known as the Revelation of St. John. The characters of the protagonists are reminiscent of the famous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the backdrop for the gameplay is the dramatic scenes of the end of the world - angels and demons fight in the ruins of modern cities, bringing death and destruction to a defenseless civilization of humans.
