Dark Matter: The Baryon Project PC

Dark Matter: The Baryon Project is the first production of the German studio Pixelcage. This title is an interesting combination of space shooting, like Freespace, and first person shooter games such as Red Faction. The fun is also enriched by elements known from cRPG, which enable the development of our character, but in a less complicated way (just, increasing the hero's skills, but without the need to go deeper into any tables).

During the game, we sit at the helm of many spacecraft, from tiny but fast and manoeuvrable fighters to big cruisers, which we lead in several people. Sometimes we are also forced to move with weapons in our hands to an enemy ship in order to ravage it. The action sites are very diverse - in Dark Matter, in addition to spacecraft, we also visit large bases located on foreign planets and asteroids. Thanks to the non-linear action it is possible to complete the game in several different ways. The gameplay is also significantly prolonged by the implementation of a multiplayer mode with a standard deathmatch and the possibility of cooperation.

Dark Matter graphics: The Baryon Project looks really nice. The use of a large number of polygons, as well as vertex and pixel shader 3.0 is clear. Similarly, the sound, dynamically adapting to what we see on the screen, gives an incredible impression.
